Box Score INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's tennis team saw their three-match win streak come to an end on Saturday, as the Knights were swept by Butler University 7-0 in the Butler Bubble. Marian is now 14-6 overall this season following the loss to the NCAA DI opponent.
Marian was swept in doubles on Saturday, losing two of the three matches as they fell behind 1-0.
Katharina Bopst and
Michelle Irigoyen fell 6-3 to the Bulldogs top pair, while
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez were defeated at No. 2 doubles 6-2.
Paloma Caceres Villalba and
Sara Corrio Alemany trailed 5-4 at No. 3 doubles when the point was clinched.Â
In singles the Knights managed to win just four sets one time in the six matchups, with Corrio Alemany taking the honors at No. 6. Alemany would fall 6-4, 6-0 in her match at No. 6, and at No. 5 the Knights' Caceres fell 6-0, 6-2. Marian's
Katharina Bopst fell at the No. 4 position 6-0, 6-1, and in the No. 3 position Irigoyen lost in consecutive 6-3, 6-3 sets. Imamniyazova lost at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1, and at No. 2 singles Fernandez was defeated 6-0, 6-2.Â
Marian will host their final home varsity match on Tuesday, April 2, taking on Missouri Baptist. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.
