Box Score Hilton Head, S.C. - The Marian women's tennis team continues their spring break matches with another win on Tuesday afternoon over Coastal Georgia in a 4-3 score. The Knights are now 11-4 overall on the season.
Marian opened the afternoon matches, winning two of the three doubles matches to gain a 1-0 lead.
Michelle Irigoyen and
Katharina Bopst won No. 1 doubles with a score of 7-5, and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez and
Yasmin Imamniyazova won No. 2 doubles with a score of 7-6.
Isadora Muller and
Paloma Caceres Villalba fell to Costal Georgia by a score of 6-4.
The Knights won three out of the six singles matches, starting off with Barbosa Fernandez's win at No. 2, as she gained a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Irigoyen won No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-3 score. Imamniyazova fell to a 6-1, 6-2 Costal Georgia victory in No. 1 singles.
Bopst fought a tough three set match but ended up falling in two tie breakers against Coastal Georgia 4-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (7). Canceres Villalba fell to a 6-4, 6-4 set in favor of Costal Georgia. Muller gained a win at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-2 score claiming the Knights victory.
Marian will play on March 6th, continuing their spring break matches with a JV contest against the Berry College.
