Marian Represented at Paris Olympics by Dr. John Locke and Alumni Felicia Stancil

INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University Department of Athletics will have a representation yet again in the Olympic Games, as head athletic trainer John Locke and Marian cycling alumni Felicia Stancil.

Both John and Felicia were in attendance at the 2020 Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan, as the pair of Marian affiliates will carry their same roles as they did three years ago in Japan. Dr. John Locke will once again serve as the Lead Medical and Head Athletic Trainer for USA Diving. Coming off of the USA Olympic Diving Trials held in Knoxville, Tennessee, Locke will facilitate all medical needs for Team USA in preparation for the Olympics. John will make his way to Europe on July 14.

Felicia Stancil, a 2018 graduate of Marian University with a B.S. in exercise science, will ride in her second Olympics this summer, competing for Team USA in the BMX racing. Felicia raced for the Knights in the BMX and MTB disciplines during her time at MU. Stancil earned the Collegiate Women BMX Individual Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2018 as a part of the team which also earned the team BMX championship the same years. Felicia finished fourth in the 2020 games in Tokyo. She was the2022 UCI BMX Racing World Champion, 2019 USA Cycling Elite National Champion and was an alternate for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. 

Stancil is one of three women riders for the Team USA BMX race squad. BMX Racing will take place on August 1 and 2. All cycling events can be seen live on Peacock.
