West Lafayette, Ind. - The Marian men's golf team started off their 2024-25 season Monday and Tuesday this week. The Knights competed at the 54-hole Rohrman Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan at Purdue University's Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex. Marian finished as runner-ups to Indiana Wesleyan by five strokes. The Knights were led individually in the tournament by
Brandon Heffner.
Marian finished as runner-ups in their season opener by five-strokes, carding 905 over three rounds. Marian finished round one and two off with final scores of 302 and round three with a score of 301. Host Indiana Wesleyan finished first overall, while Campbellsville finished behind the Knights by six-strokes, Cumberland was the next to finish in fourth place overall. Indiana Wesleyan's B team finished in fifth whille Midway finished in sixth and Cumberlands finished in seventh.
Brandon Heffner was the highest placement for Marian in the tournament claiming third place overall and shooting two-strokes over par. Heffner was beat by two players from the host team, Indiana Wesleyan. Heffner claimed a score of 218 for the three rounds played. Auggie Mann was the next Knight to place in the top-10 with a ninth place finish shooting eight-strokes over par. Mann tallied up a final score of 224 over the two days of play.
Luke Beetz finished in a tie for 15th with Mason from Midway shooting 16-strokes over par. Beetz had a final score of 232.
Lane Zedrick placed in a tie for 18th place with Jantratit from Cumberlands with, 18-strokes over par. Zedrick claimed a final score of 234.
Weston Ogden was the last to finish for the Knights in a tie in 24th place with Boczmak from Campbellsville with a final score of 237 over three rounds of play which was 21 over par.Â
Nolan Potter competed individually during the tournament claiming a final score of 222 to place in a three-way tie for sixth place. Potter shot six-strokes over par throughout the tournament.
Jacob Paine also competed as an individual with a final placement of 20th in a tie with Mitchell from Midway. Paine's claimed 19-strokes over par with a final score of 235Â over three rounds.
Marian will look to bounce back with a win in their next tournament, taking a trip to Illinois for the NAIA Midwest Invitational hosted by St. Ambrose at TPC Deere Run GC on September 23rd-24th.Â
