Box Score INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's tennis team lost their first match of their spring schedule on Saturday night, falling to the University of Indianapolis by a 6-1 score. Marian is 9-3 overall on the season.
The Knights lost two of the three doubles matches, dropping the first point in the match.
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez lost by a 6-3 score at No. 1 doubles, and at No. 2 doubles
Michelle Irigoyen and
Ana Lopez Torres were defeated 6-2. Paloma Caceres and
Liliane Alinquant won Marian's only doubles matchup, claiming a 6-4 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Knights scored one win, gaining their lone team point with Paloma Caceres' 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
Yasmin Imamniyazova put up a fight at No. 1 singles, falling in three sets by a 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (7) score. Lopez reached a second set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles but fell 6-2, 7-6 (6), and at No. 3 singles Irigoyen lost in three sets, dropping a 7-6 (4), 4-6, 0-1 (9) battle. Barbosa was defeated 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, and Alinquant lost 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Marian competes next Saturday, traveling to Kentucky to take on NCAA DI foe Bellarmine.
