Marietta, Ga. - The Marian competitive cheerleading squad finished in second overall at the Life University Classic on Saturday afternoon. Marian came back from a fourth place finish in round one to improve their score by almost five points to take home the runner-up title.
In round one of competition Marian finished in the top-five with a score of 82.7. Flordia Memorial University came in fifth after one round of competition with a score of 80.88. The University of Tennessee Southern beat out the Knights to claim third place with a score of 84.7. Loyola out of New Orleans tabbed the second place finish with a score of 85.13 while Xavier University of Louisiana claimed the first spot with a score of 93.1.
In round two only nine teams competed with Xavier University of Louisiana only competing in round one action. The Knights finished second with a score of 87.83 only behind by less than a point to University of Tennessee Southern who claimed the victory with 88.13 points. Florida Memorial and Loyola both took home third place with a tying score of 85.4 and Life University wrapped up the top five with a score of 78.02.
The Knights will be back in action next Saturday, March 1st at the Trojan Invite for their last competition before the Crossroads League Championships. Action starts up in Upland on Saturday with the Knights competing in round one at 11 am.
