The Marian men's track and field team competed in multiple locations on Friday, May 9, taking part in last chance meets at Indiana University, Indiana State, and St. Francis (Ill.). Marian performed well as they looked to add to their NAIA qualifier lists, doing the majority of their damage at Indiana University.
Owen Pittman added to Marian's national qualifier list on Friday with a B standard time in the 1500m, clocking a 3:50.29 time to cement himself in the top-20 in the NAIA this season at the time of release. Pittman finished fourth overall in the 1500m.
Rick Williams clocked a B standard time in the 800m, also taking a top-20 time in the event in the NAIA on Friday with his 1:51.40 effort.
Charles Leedke,
Andrew McDade, and
Mason Piatt finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, while Williams was the runner-up in the event.
Everett Carlisle hit a PR time of 1:57.28 in the 800m.
Benjamin Riehle ran a 1:52.21 time in the invitational race of the 800m.
In the 400m,
Olivier Lifrange pushed through and recorded a B standard effort of 47.42 seconds, posting a top-15 effort in the NAIA this season with his runner-up performance.
Eli Givens ran a PR in the race with a 48.07-second time, while
Tre Jones clocked a 48.11-second effort, finishing fifth behind Given's fourth-place time.
Raif Miller finished with a 48.57 time in the 400m, and later clocked a 21.85 in the 200m.
Eric Materna finished eighth in the 200m with a 21.54-second race.
Richard Dube beat his school record time in the 400m hurdles on the day, clocking a 53.17 time in the event, moving into the top-20 in the NAIA.
Gregory Hueston finished top-10 in the 400m hurdles on Friday.
The Knights finished their track events at Indiana with the 4x400m relay, winning the event with the school's second-best time of the year. Marian finished just 0.02 seconds off their mark set two weeks prior in Louisville.
Markevious Keys competed at Indiana State, leading Marian in the hammer throw with his eighth-place finish and top distance of 51.45m. Sam Runholt placed 10th in the hammer with a distance of 48.58m.
Javian Jones placed 12th in the shot put with a mark of 14.64m at Indiana State.
At Indiana,
Marko Brajovic finished sixth with a 6.72m distance in the long jump, while
Armani Glass finished in eighth.
Van Lian and
Jordan Pohl did not record a passing height in the high jump at Indiana, while
Brennan La Belle and
Jake Grangier each cleared 4.33m in the Indiana State pole vault before failing at the next height. Lian would record a distance of 13.56m in the triple jump, while
Jordan Pohl hit a mark of 13.35m on his top attempt.
Nick Frank and
Clark Chustz represented the Knights in Illinois, with the pair competing at the USF Fighting Chance Invite. Frank competed in the steeplechase, and clocked a 9:31.75 time in the race, while Chustz competed in the late-night 10,000m race. Chustz had a gutty run as he finished after midnight eastern, and broke the school record with a 31:19.17 time.
Final qualifiers for the 2025 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship will be announced next week. The championship runs from May 21-23 at Indiana Wesleyan's track and field complex in Marion, Ind.
