KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Marian (Ind.) senior Katie Woods of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been named the NAIA Women's Track Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance at the IWU Midwest Classic on February 7, 2026. Woods delivered two victories in championship fashion, earning A standards in both events while rewriting the Marian record book.
She opened the meet by winning the 1000 meters in a field of 21 athletes, posting a time of 2:51.35. The mark not only met the A standard but also set a new Marian school record and ranked as the No. 2 time in the NAIA this season.
Later in the meet, Woods helped power Marian to a win in the distance medley relay, as the Knights clocked 11:53.88 to top a six-team field. The performance met the A standard and established another Marian school record, while also moving Marian to the No. 1 DMR time in the NAIA.
This is the second time that Woods has been named as the NAIA Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Woods will compete this weekend at Vanderbilt, running at the Music City Challenge. The majority of the Knights competing this weekend will run at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
