JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from February 2 through February 8. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Katie Woods was named the Crossroads League Track Athlete of the week after her performance at the IWU Midwest Classic. Woods continued her stellar indoor campaign for Marian with wins in the 1,000 meters and the distance medley relay at the IWU Midwest Classic. The MU senior posted NAIA A-standards and set new Marian program records in each race.
Nhaydia Watson was named the Crossroads League Field Athlete of the week after her stellar performance at the IWU Midwest Classic in the throwing events. Watson won the individual title in the weight throw at the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic with a personal-best distance of 17.6 meters. The effort was a top-10 mark in the NAIA this season and hit the NAIA A-standard.
Marian will be back in action this weekend as the whole squad competes at the Heartland Invite at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Friday, the 13th, and Saturday, the 14th.
