Women's Track and Field Lead After Day One of Crossroads League Championships

Marion, Ind. - After the first day of competition, the Marian women's track and field team leads the Crossroads League Championships with 85 points overall. The 4x800m relay led the way on day one, setting a new Indoor Crossroads League Meet record with their performance.

With the Knights in the lead with 85 points, Indiana Wesleyan is in second with 38 points, and Huntington rounds out the top three with 30 points. Taylor is currently in fourth with 27 points, and Spring Arbor levels out the top five with 26 points. Grace and Mount Vernon are currently tied in sixth, while Saint Francis, Bethel, and Goshen round out the rest of the placements.

The 4x800m relay kicked off the pace of the day for the Knights with Isabella Murch, Katie Woods, Summer Rempe, and Gracynn Hinkley clocking a new Crossroads League record time of 9:11.22 and placing first overall in the race. Indiana Wesleyan came in second with over a 20-second margin between the Knights.

In prelims action, Nina Marinkovic, Kaylana Jackson, and Claire Lange all qualified for finals tomorrow in the 60m Hurdles. Marinkovic came in first with a NAIA B Standard time of 8.65, while Jackson finished in third with a time of 8.95, and Lange clocked a 9.36. In the 60m, Catalla Jones finished in 19th while both Armoney Clay and Jovana Milosevic qualified for finals tomorrow. Milosevic came in third with a time of 7.89, and Clay finished in seventh with a time of 7.98. 

The Knights were able to score a large amount of points in the 600m finals, with Lange finishing in fourth with a time of 1:36.64 and recording five points and an NAIA B Standard. Holli Reuter came in second, scoring eight points and clocking a NAIA B Standard with a time of 1:36.00. Hanna Reuter led the way, finishing first with a time of 1:35.80 and also clocking an NAIA B Standard. In the 5000m, Lainey Roth led the way, finishing fourth and recording five points with a time of 18:19.80. Josie Feldman finished in the top-10 with a time of 18:45.83, while Sabrina Siems finished with a time of 19:36.49. 

In the final track race of the day, the DMR with Liz Fischer, Kamiah Hunt, Gracie Fields, and Vivienne Siefker finished in fourth with a time of 12:54.90. In the Pentathlon, Bella Dean finished as a runner-up with a score of 3032.

In the field, the long jump kicked off action with all three Knights qualifying for finals. Holli Reuter finished in fifth with a mark of 5.17m, while Marinkovic finished in fourth with a mark of 5.34m. Hanna Reuter led the way for Marian, finishing in third with a mark of 5.47m. In the weight throw Nhaydia Watson, Ozofu Magaji, and Hadleigh Filipovich all qualified for finals, bringing in big points for Marian. Filipovich finished in fifth with a mark of 15.18m while Magaji finished in third with a mark of 16.12m. Watson led the way, finishing in first with a mark of 18.10m, hitting an NAIA A Standard. 

The Knights look towards claiming their seventh Indoor Crossroads League title tomorrow, with track events starting at 1:40 pm with the Mile, and field events starting at 1 PM with the high jump.
