Columbia, Ky. - The Marian women's tennis team fell to No. 2 Lindsey Wilson College on the road. Marian moves to 7-6 overall on the season after the loss.
The Blue Raiders took the early doubles point with their 6-3 win over
Michelle Irigoyen and
Jimena Rivera Flores at No. 2, followed by the 6-4 win over Yasmin Imaniyazova and
Ana Lopez Torres at No. 1.
Liliane Alinquant and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez went unfinished at No. 3 doubles with Lindsey Wilson in the lead 5-4.
Lindsey Wilson extended their lead with a 6-2 and 6-1 win over Irigoyen at No. 3, followed by a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win over Imaniyazova after she took the first set at No. 1. Rivera Flores was the next to finish, falling 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 4.
Ana Lopez Torres was able to bring Lindsey Wilson's lead down to three after a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 2, but the Blue Raiders were able to continue to extend their lead with a 7-5 and 6-2 win over Alinquant.
Paloma Caceres Villalba was the last to finish, falling 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 6.Â
The Knights will be back in action as they take on (RV) Huntington in a Crossroads League match-up with doubles action starting at 4 PM at the Healthplex.Â
