Gainesville, Fla. - After the first day of the 2026 Indoor National Championships, the Marian men's track and field team holds strong as runner-ups with 8 points.
After one event, Brewton-Parker holds first place with 10 points. Two points behind Marian, Indiana Tech ranks third, while Life and Rochester Christian are tied for fourth. Dakota State and Ottawa hold the sixth-place spot.
Owen Myers started the action for the day, finishing 12th in the 3000m race walk and qualifying for the finals section tomorrow with a time of 13:50.67. Myers hit a new PR in the event, beating his time from last year's championships by 15 seconds. The 4x800m prelims were up next, where Rick Williams, Ben Riehle, Matthias Smith, and Mason Piatt not only qualified for the finals section tomorrow but also set a new school record of 7:33.78.
In the 4x400m relay,
Eric Materna,
Malik Ferdinand,
Tre Jones, and
Eli Givens lead the way, finishing in first and qualifying for the finals section with a time of 3:11.72. In the field, Marian had three athletes competing in the High Jump. Adyen Eckstein finished in ninth with a mark of 1.99m, while
Victor Dailey led the way, earning All-American Honors and finishing second overall with a mark of 2.07m. The men's DMR finished out the day with Ben Moster,
AJ Kelly, Everette Carlisle, and
Charles Leedke all leading the way in their heat with a time of 10:03.50 to qualify for the finals section.Â
Action tomorrow on the track opens up with Myers 3000m race walk finals at 11:15 AM. Followed up by Tristan Trevino in the 1-mile prelim at 12:05 PM. In the field, Markevious Keys opens up the weight throw at 3 PM. Marko Brajovic will also compete in the long jump at 3 PM.Â
