GREENWOOD, Ind. - The 2026 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country teams were announced on Tuesday, June 23, selected by College Sports Communicators, and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Marian men's track and field and cross country programs were recognized for the second consecutive year, as the Knights earned the maximum six honors in the 2025-26 year.
Marian's honorees in 2025-26 include
Eric Materna,
Benjamin Moster,
Benjamin Riehle,
Tristan Trevino,
Mason Piatt, and
Charles Leedke.
Eligible nominees for the CSC Academic All-America program must maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average while having reached sophomore status academically, and must rank in the top-25 in their conference or region, based on TFRRS rankings at the time of nomination. The event can be a singular event, either indoor or outdoor, and must be based on an individual event.
Each institution is allowed up to six nominations per gender for cross country and track, with selected CSC Academic All-District recipients advancing to the ballot for CSC Academic All-America honors. Those awards will be voted on by members of CSC from around the nation and will be announced on July 14 and 15.
All six members of the Marian Academic All-District Team played a role in the team's 2026 NAIA Indoor National Championship, while also helping the Knights finish fourth in the outdoor season.
Tristan Trevino was a multi-time national champion this year in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and was also Marian's individual leader during the cross country season.
Eric Materna was a national champion in the indoor 4x400m relay, and the efforts of
Charles Leedke,
Mason Piatt,
Benjamin Moster, and
Benjamin Riehle helped Marian capture the NAIA 4x800m relay at both indoor and outdoor nationals, along with the indoor DMR.
Materna, Leedke, and Trevinio were all selected to the NAIA Academic All-America ballot, marking the second consecutive year that Marian had athletes earn the distinction of being on the final ballot.
Marian was one of six Crossroads League schools to earn an honor, joining Taylor, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Grace, Indiana Wesleyan, and Goshen. The Knights, Wildcats, Lancers, Trojans, and Cougars each earned the maximum six honors per school.
