Weiler Becomes First Women's Golfer to Earn NAIA National Golfer of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Marian (Ind.) junior Emma Weiler posted two rounds under par and set a new program 54-hole scoring record, winning the Heritage Hill Collegiate, hosted by Lawrence Tech (Mich.), to earn NAIA Women's Golfer of the Month honors for April.

Weiler, a native of Batesville, Ind., opened with an even-par 72 before pulling away, carding back-to-back rounds under par to win by four shots over teammate Maria Kennard.

She began her tournament with a birdie and added another on her sixth hole, recording six of her 15 total birdies during the opening round.

Starting on the 133-yard, par-3 second hole in all three rounds, Weiler played her opening hole at 2-under for the week. In the second round, she sat at 1-under through nine holes before adding two more birdies over her final five holes to finish at 2-under (70).

Weiler closed strong, opening her final round with three pars before a birdie at the par-3 fifth. After a bogey three holes later, she played her final 11 holes at 3-under, finishing with a 69 and a tournament total of 211, a new Marian record.

Marian also ran away with the event as a team, winning by 91 strokes, and the Knights return to action April 13-14 at the Music City Classic in Old Hickory, Tenn., at Hermitage Golf Course, hosted by Cumberland (Tenn.).
