Muncie, Ind. - The Marian women's tennis team completed an undefeated regular season in Crossroads League play on Saturday afternoon, as the Knights picked up a clean 4-0 win over Taylor University. Marian will enter the Crossroads League Tournament as the No. 1 seed, carrying a 13-6 overall record with an unblemished 9-0 CL mark.
The Knights blanked the Trojans in doubles play, winning a pair of matches by 6-0 scores.
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Lopez Torres won 6-0 at No. 1, while
Michelle Irigoyen and
Jimena Rivera Flores captured a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Marian landed their first victory from
Yasmin Imamniyazova at No. 1, who blitzed her match with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Emma Chrome won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles for the second victory, and at No. 3 singles,
Ana Barbosa Fernandez won by a final margin of 6-1, 6-1, clinching the 4-0 victory for the Knights. In other matches, Marian's
Jimena Rivera Flores was winning 6-1, 5-0 in her match at No. 4 singles, and
Maggie Bertram was winning 6-2, 6-3 in her contest at No. 6 singles.
Marian will rematch with Taylor on Monday afternoon, hosting the Trojans in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals. The match, which will be off limits to spectators, will be held at USTA Midwest in Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m.
