INDIANAPOLIS - The final collegiate cycling championship of the year is coming up for the Marian cycling program, as the Knights are set to ride at the annual USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals. Competition runs from May 8 through 10 this coming week in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Knights will open the week on May 8, competing in the team time trials. Marian finished as the runner-up in both the men's and women's race last season, and are looking to improve to champion status this year.
Saturday's competition will be the road race, where the Knights are looking to make a statement.
Lizzy Gunsalus is the top returning women's rider in the event for Marian, looking for redemption after podiuming the past two seasons. Marian is without last year's top rider, as 2025 graduate
Luke Arens finished third.
The week ends with the criterium race on Sunday.
Stephanie Lawrence, Marian's top rider from the 2025 collegiate track championships, was the 2024 champion, but did not defend her title a year ago. She will aim to earn her second crit championship of her career. The men are aiming to deliver on the final day this season, after missing a crit result in recent years.
Last year the Knights were the runner-up, missing first place by six points.
