Hilton Head, S.C. - The Marian men's team recorded their fourth straight win with the 5-2 decision over Milligan College on Tuesday morning. With the win, the Knights are now 10-5 overall.
Marian had no trouble picking up the doubles point, with
Ashwin Bhat and
Jones McNamar defeating Ryan Thomas and Derian Janeke 6-2 at the No. 2 spot, followed by
Mark Griffin and
Andrew Ilett winning 6-4 against Carter Rigsby and Marcos Moreno. At No. 3 singles,
Jake Giles and
Shadi Al Tori were trailing Juan Camilo Burgos and Justin Rigsby 5-6 before their match went unfinished.
Milligan struck first with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles as
Jona Henze fell to Moreno. However, Griffin got the Knights back on track by picking up the 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win over Krishan Teneja at the No. 1 spot, followed by Ilett at the No. 2 spot who defeated Carter Rigsby 7-6 (7-6), 6-0. At the No. 4 spot, Bhat took down his opponent with ease, winning 6-4, 6-0 against Thomas, before Milligan picked up one last win at the No. 6 spot, as
Gavin Dardeen fell 6-3, 6-2 to Janeke. McNamar gave Marian one last win with his 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) win over Nathan Smiley at No. 5 singles.
Marian will wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow with a pair of matches. The Knights will first take on Drew University at 8:30 a.m., before traveling to SCAD-Savannah for a 7 p.m. match.
