Box Score Columbia, Ky. - The Marian men's tennis team suffered their second consecutive defeat against a ranked foe on Saturday, as the Knights lost 4-1 against No. 13 Lindsey Wilson. Marian is 12-9 entering their final match of the season.
The Blue Raiders won the doubles point, starting with Jan Silhavy and Miquel Perez winning 6-3 over
James Ashworth and
Luis Sobanski on court one. On court two Lucas Marques and Aldo Randazzo defeated
Jona Henze and
Marc Soriano 6-3 as well, clinching the point for the home Lindsey WIlson squad. Anatoliy Voloshyn and Jaume Barcelo's match on court three against Andy Ilett and
Jones McNamar ended unfinished, with the Marian duo trailing 5-3.Â
Marian's lone win of the day came from Sobanski in singles, as he won a three-set match against Barcelo 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Ashworth was defeated in consecutive sets 6-4, 6-4, and Soriano went down 6-4, 6-3.
Jona Henze went to a tiebreaker, but his match at No. 3 singles ended in a 7-6 (2), 2-6, 3-6 defeat against Marques.Â
Max Sternberg and
Shadi Al Tori did not start their matches.Â
Marian will finish their regular season on Sunday, when they take on Campbellsville.
