Greenwood, Ind. - On Tuesday afternoon, the Marian men's soccer team picked up three College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, as they recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Six Crossroads League schools were represented on the team.
The CSC Academic All-District award is given to a student-athlete who maintains a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average while having reached sophomore status academically and having played in at least 90 percent, or started in 66 percent of their team's contests throughout the current season. Individuals must also have been nominated by their Sports Information Department to make the list.
Each men's and women's soccer team is allowed up to six nominations, with selected CSC Academic All-District recipients advancing to the ballot for CSC Academic All-America honors. Those awards will be voted on by members of CSC from around the nation and will be announced on December 16.
Marian's three honorees were Sebastian Gonzalez, Josh Wesseling, and Gerald Ramirez. Marian's athletes were not featured on the national ballot for All-American consideration.
The Knights finished the season with a 9-6-4 overall record this season.
