INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's tennis team picked up their second consecutive win on Saturday, as the Knights moved to .500 on their 2024-25 campaign with their 7-0 win over Georgetown College. The Knights hold a 10-10 overall record following their win at the Indy Healthplex.
Marian took the doubles point to capture a quick 1-0 lead, getting their first win in doubles from
Jan Bartolome and
Marcos Ramos Cabrera, with the pair landing a 6-2 win against matthew Smith and Andrew Kennedy at No. 3. The Tigers would rally and win the second doubles set, as
Jones McNamar and
James Ashworth fell 4-6 against Will Barnes and Leo Schirmer at No. 1 doubles. With the point left on the No. 2 court, Marian was able to pull out a 7-5 victory, with the duo of
Bogdan Precupescu and March Soriano scoring the win over Alex Stragier and Stephen Taylor.
Marian rode the doubles point win into singles, rolling through wins at No. 2 and No. 3, with
James Ashworth winning 6-2, 6-1 in his match, while Juan Garcia-Tunon won 6-2, 6-4 in his matchup.
Jan Bartolome clinched Marian's win on the day with his 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles, while at No. 6 singles
Jones McNamar won a 7-6 (5), 6-0 contest against Stephen Taylor.
Leading 5-0 in the match, Marian pulled together victories at No. 4 and No. 1 singles, finishing their sweep in the match.
Marcos Ramos Cabrera won 6-1, 7-6 (3) against Chase Hechemy at No. 4, and at No. 1
Marc Soriano finished the match with his 7-6 (4), 4-6, 1-0 (8) win over Will Barnes.
Marian ends their season with three consecutive road matches, traveling to Oakland City University on Monday for the first of their three matches.
