Oakland City, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team had their two-match win streak snapped on Monday afternoon, as the Knights fell 6-1 against No. 20 Oakland City. Marian drops to 10-11 overall on the season with the loss.
Marian came up short in their loss against Oakland City, dropping the first point of the match in doubles as the Mighty Oaks scored wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to take the 1-0 lead.
James Ashworth and
Jones McNamar had a 5-3 lead at the time of the point being clinched at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Marian's long win came from
James Ashworth at No. 2 singles, as he won 6-4, 6-4 against Agustin Siufi. The Knights had chances at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, but fell in third-set tiebreakers as
Marcos Ramos Cabrera and
Jones McNamar were unable to claim victory.
Jan Bartolome was also bested in a three-match score.
Marian will go on the road again this coming Wednesday, traveling to Holy Cross College for a 10:00 a.m. match.
