Softball Earns Four 2025 NAIA All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the three teams of 2025 NAIA Softball All-Americans, and pitcher and player of the year awards. Marian University brought home four 2025 NAIA All-America honors, with Grace Meyer, Olivia Stunkel, Lily Wendt, and Abbey Hofmann claiming 2025 accolades.

Marian's four 2025 NAIA All-Americans ties a school record, matching the same number earned during the 2019 season. In 2019, Marian had two members of the first team, one second team, and one honorable mention. For the 2025 season, Grace Meyer led the Knights honors as the lone member of the team on the First Team All-America, with the senior being the top catcher on the All-America team. Olivia Stunkel was named Second Team All-American at-large, with the senior pitcher being one of six total pitchers on the Second Team. Lily Wendt and Abbey Hofmann were each named to the Third Team All-American group, with Wendt taking one of four infielder spots, while Hofmann was one of the four outfielders on the Third Team.

The Knights led the Crossroads League with four 2025 All-America honors, with Indiana Wesleyan earning three honors. Taylor earned one 2025 All-American.

Grace Meyer played in all 57 of the team's games in 2025, and ended her career with a .396 batting average as a senior as she was named NAIA All-America First Team. Meyer tied the Marian career record for doubles with 66, driving 16 two-bag hits this season in addition to hitting four home runs. Meyer scored 43 runs and drove in 42, and slugged .585 in her senior season. The catcher made up part of the most successful batteries in program history, catching 99 wins for pitcher Olivia Stunkel, while being behind the plate for Stunkel's single-season win record in 2025.

For the third consecutive season, Olivia Stunkel was named to the NAIA Second Team All-America, earning an At-Large role on the 2025 team. Stunkel, who was named to the NFCA Region VI First Team, ended her career as the second-winningest pitcher in program history, setting the single-season record in 2025 with 30 victories. Stunkel finished the season with a 2.26 ERA, going 30-2 overall in 34 appearances and 33 starts, ranking second in the NAIA in wins in the 2025 season. The senior pitched 18 complete games on the year, logging 195 innings while striking out 173 batters. Stunkel earned a victory in 24 consecutive starts, a streak that began on March 14 and lasted through the first game of the NAIA World Series. Ending her career with the ball in her hand, Stunkel started each of Marian's nine postseason games, carrying a record of 7-2 in the month of May.

Lily Wendt led the Knights in batting as a junior, earning her first career NAIA All-American honor as she was named to the Third Team. Starting all 57 games with her primary position being first base, Wendt saw time as the Knights' third baseman and designated player in 2025. Wendt held a team-high .425 batting average in her first full season as a starter, posting a team-leading 21 doubles and 61 RBI. In her junior season, Wendt slugged .597, and carried an OPS of 1.044, and defensively held a fielding percentage of .983 in 235 chances.

Abbey Hofmann had a dominant sophomore season, earning NAIA All-American Third Team for the first time in her career. Hofmann, who joined Stunkel on the NFCA Region VI Team by earning Second Team honors, led Marian in home runs on the season with eight while carrying the second-highest batting average at .418. The outfielder slugged 16 doubles and four triples, leading the team with a .663 slugging percentage. Hofmann led Marian as well in hits with 82 base knocks, and defensively made 119 outs, with 20 coming during the NAIA World Series. Hofmann was also recently named to the NAIA World Series Tournament Team.

The Marian softball team finished their season in the NAIA World Series, placing fifth in the field of ten teams. The Knights carried a record of 48-9 overall on the season, winning both the Crossroads League Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
