Columbia, Ky. - The Marian men's tennis team fell to No. 6 Lindsey Wilson on Monday afternoon. Following the loss, the Knights move to 9-7 overall on the season.
Lindsey Wilson got off to an early lead, winning both doubles matches with No. 3 finishing first as
Marc Soriano and
Iyan Cresens fell 6-3. No. 1 was next to finish with
Mateo Guerin and Juan Garcia-Tunon falling 6-3, while
James Ashworth and
Marcos Ramos Cabrera went unfinished at No. 2 with a 4-4 tie.Â
In singles action, Guerin fell 6-3 and 6-1 at No. 2, followed by Soriano falling 6-3 and 6-4 at No. 3. Asworth was the next to finish, putting up a tough fight, winning set one 3-6 but falling in the next two sets, 6-0 and 6-4. Lindsey Wilson extended their 4-0 lead with a 6-1 and 6-4 win over
Bogdan Precupescu at No. 5. Ramos Cabrera was the next to finish falling with a pair of 6-2 losses at No. 4. Garcia-Tunon secured the only point for the Knights with his 4-6, 6-1, and 1-0(10) win at No. 6.
Marian will be back in action on Saturday, March 28th, as they host No. 12 Huntington at 3:30 PM at the Healthplex.
