Men's 4x800m Relay Sets New NAIA Record Leading Day Two

Gainesville, Fla. - After the second day of the 2026 Indoor National Championships, the Marian men's track and field team is in first place with a score of 23 points. Markevious Keys led the way in the field, earning All-American Honors in the Weight Throw. On the track, the 4x800m Relay led the way, earning not only an Individual National Championship but a new NAIA record.

Owen Myers started the action for the day, finishing 10th in the 3000m race walk and with a time of 13:10.70. Myers hit a new PR in the event, beating his time from yesterday's race by 40 seconds. Tristan Trevino was next up on the track, finishing fifth in prelims with a time of 4:12.98 and punching an automatic qualifying time for the finals section tomorrow. 

Continuing action on the track, Eric Materna and Dexter Parker competed in the 600m. Parker finished with a time of 1:20.16, placing 15th overall, while Materna led the way, recording a qualifying time of 1:17.91. Three Knights competed in the 60m prelims, all clocking a time under 6.90. Ricardo Mateo finished in 16th with a time of 6.80, while Jeremiah Brown finished in ninth with a time of 6.75. Will Osafo led the way, qualifying for tomorrow's finals race with a time of 6.70. 

Opening up the field portion of the day, Marko Brajovic finished BLANK overall with a mark of 6.96m in the long jump. In the Weight Throw, Markevious Keys finished fourth while earning All-American Honors with his mark of 19.18m. Back on the track, Charles Leedke led the way, finishing first overall in prelims with an automatic qualifying time of 1:51.52. The 4x800m wrapped up the day running a new NAIA Record with a time of 7:27.72. The team of Mason Piatt, Tristan Trevino, Charlie Leedke, and Ben Riehle placed first overall and earned an NAIA Individual National Championship.

The Knights will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the NAIA Indoor National Championships. Tristan Trevino opens up action on the track in the 1-mile finals section starting at 12:25 pm, followed by Eric Materna in the 600m at 1:35 pm.
