Box Score Muncie, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team completed the regular season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Taylor University 4-0 to enter the postseason on a two-game winning streak. Marian is 13-9 overall on the season, finishing Crossroads League play with a 6-3 record.
The Knights began the afternoon with a pair of 6-1 wins in doubles, with
Mateo Guerin and Juan Garcia-Tunon winning the first of the two doubles pairings at No. 2.
Marc Soriano and
Jan Bartolome followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, giving the Knights the first point of the match.
Marc Soriano earned Marian's first win in singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, and
Jan Bartolome followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.
Iyan Cresens clinched the win for Marian with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, sealing the Knights' 4-0 victory.
Outside of the three winners,
James Ashworth was leading his match at No. 1 singles by a 6-2, 5-1 count, and Garcia-Tunon led at No. 4 6-1, 5-3.
Mateo Guerin was winning at No. 3 singles 6-3, 3-0.
Marian will have a quick turnaround for its next match, hosting the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals on Monday morning. Marian will take on Bethel University at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20.
