GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the second consecutive year, the Marian men's track and field and cross country program has earned three College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America honors, as
Charles Leedke,
Eric Materna, and
Tristan Trevino were each named to the 2025-26 Cross Country and Track and Field Academic All-America Teams. Both Leedke and Materna were named to the First Team, while Trevino was named to the Second Team.
Eligible nominees for the CSC Academic All-America program must maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average while having reached sophomore status academically, and must rank in the top-25 in their conference or region, based on TFRRS rankings at the time of nomination. The event can be a singular event, either indoor or outdoor, and must be based on an individual event.
The trio helped Marian to a dominant year on the track, as the Knights were Crossroads League Indoor and Outdoor Champions, while also leading to Marian earning the program's second consecutive NAIA National Championship in NAIA Indoor Track and Field. Marian went on to finish fourth in the NAIA Outdoor season, and in cross country season, Trevino and Leedke helped the Knights finish 15th at the NAIA Championship.
Both Leedke and Trevino were members of Marian's national-champion 4x800m relay teams at the indoor and outdoor championships, and the duo also helped the Knights win the DMR at the team's NAIA Championship.
Tristan Trevino was the winner of the mile race at the NAIA Indoor Championship, and followed with an All-American honor in the outdoor 1500m. Leedke qualified for multiple events at the NAIA Outdoor Championship, and
Eric Materna was a combined four-time NAIA All-American this year, helping Marian win the indoor 4x400m relay championship.
Eric Materna is the first-ever two-time Academic All-America in the program's history.
The 10-member NAIA first team had a 3.91 average undergraduate GPA. Additionally, the members of the CSC Academic All-America® men's track & field/cross country NAIA teams had three student-athletes who hold a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
