MARION, Ind. - For the sixth consecutive year, the Marian women's track and field team have captured the Crossroads League Championship, as the Knights won the outdoor championship with a meet and program record 317.5 points. Marian's title is the seventh overall in program history.
After a strong opening day that saw Marian score 101.5 points, the Knights found a way to top their efforts on Friday, scoring a commanding 216 points. Marian scored at least one point in every event in the meet, and dominated their previous high set one season ago by 77.5 points. The 317.5 points were the most ever scored in the meet, and the first time a men's or women's team eclipsed 300 points at the league championship.Â
In the 100m finals,
Kyla Bradberry scored one of three first-place finishes on the day, winning with an 11.94-second race.
Kathy Soriano,
Jovana Milosevic, and
Armoney Clay finished fifth through seventh, giving Marian a total of 19 points from the event. Bradberry also won the 200m race with a 24.85 time, while Milosevic finished third in the event.
Emma Edwards finished fifth in the 200m and
Kathy Soriano finished eighth, locking in 21 points for Marian.
Before competing in the 200m finals, Edwards raced in the 400m dash, clocking a 56.08-second time to win the event, recording her lone individual title.
Hanna Reuter and
Holli Reuter finished fourth and fifth in the 400m, as the twin sisters combined for nine Marian points. Later in the 800m,
Katie Woods raced to one of her two victories, winning the event with an NAIA B standard time of 2:11.92.
Gracie Fields narrowly missed an eighth place finish in the 800m, finishing ninth with a 2:20.91 time.Â
Woods' second individual win and third overall of the meet came in the 1500m, where she turned in another NAIA B standard time of 4:30.88 in her victory.
Gracynn Hinkley finished fourth in the 1500m, while
Summer Rempe and
Isabella Murch finished fifth and seventh, giving the team a total of 21 points from the race.
Lainey Roth capped her best individual weekend with a runner-up finish in the 5000m, breaking 18 minutes for the first time in her collegiate career with a 17:57.94 time. Roth earned All-Crossroads League with the race, logging her second scored event of the week.Â
In the 100m hurdles,
Kaylana Jackson earned an All-League time with a second place effort of 14.57, while
Nina Marinkovic finished fourth with a 14.93 time.
Claire Lange and
Bella Dean finished seventh and eighth, pushing the team lead further ahead as the Knights scored 18 total points in the event. Lange would end her week with a win in the 400m hurdles, hitting a lifetime best time of 1:01.66 in her best, climbing higher on the NAIA leaderboard with her B standard time.
Catalla Jones finished fourth with a B standard mark of 1:02.9, and
Kaylana Jackson finished sixth in the 400m hurdles.
Both
Sabrina Siems and
Madison Beaumont scored in the 3000m steeplechase, with Siems finishing fourth and Beaumont in seventh.Â
The two Marian relays in action on Friday earned victories, with Marian's 4x100m team of Clay, Bradberry, Soriano, and Milosevic hitting a school record time of 46.6 seconds, marking a B standard. The 4x400m relay consisting of Jackson, Reuter, Reuter, and Jones won with a time of 3:53.66.
In the final scored field events of the meet,
Ciarra Moore won the triple jump with a distance of 11.43m, while
Shirmara Anderson finished third to join her teammate on the podium.
Alivia Lilly and
Kalise Gutierrez each scored with fourth and seventh place performances.
Nhaydia Watson came up shy of breaking her lifetime best with a runner-up distance of 53.33m in the hammer throw.
Ozofu Magaji joined her teammate on the podium finishing third with a 48.85 distance, while
Hadleigh Filipovich and
Courtney Butler finished fourth and fifth.Â
Bella Dean ended the week scoring 11 points from field events, as she finished fourth in the javelin and third in the heptathlon, earning All-Crossroads League honros for the latter event.Â
At the conclusion of the championship, head coach
Katie Wise-Butler was named as the Coach of the Year, and
Kyla Bradberry was named as the meet's Most Outstanding Track Performer.Â
Marian will compete in two different last chance qualifier meets next Friday at Indiana University and Indiana State University, aiming to add more qualifiers for their 2026 NAIA Outdoor Championship roster. The NAIA National Championships are held May 20-22 in Asheville, North Carolina.Â
